Employment at the Ranch

Red Horse Mountain Ranch has a strong commitment to excellence for both our guests and our employees. Our staff goal is to provide our guests with an amazing, safe, and memorable ranch vacation. Our staff’s first priority is our guests. Red Horse Mountain Ranch each year hires 20 to 30 seasonal staff who have a mature self-starter attitude, strong customer service and guest care attitudes, strong communication skills, and who appreciate being in the outdoors. Staff members must have a flexible attitude in their work responsibilities and have the expectation to help in any area of the ranch operations. Staff members can expect long work days, housing & meals provided, and a summer you’ll always remember.

Ranch Hands - This position is currently filled for the 2012 season.

Ranch Hands are responsible for maintaining grounds, fences, & facilities. Job includes weeding, mowing, trimming, planting, trash take out, handy work, mending fence, painting, vehicle maintenance, and other odd jobs around the ranch. Must be able to work outdoors most of the time and be able to twist, bend, kneel, climb and use hand tools. Ranch hands will also be support for all other ranch departments.

Landscaper – Available, accepting applications now.

The Landscaper is specifically responsible for maintaining grounds, fences, & facilities. Job includes weeding, mowing, trimming, planting, mending fence, vehicle maintenance, and other odd jobs around the ranch. Must be able to work outdoors most of the time and be able to twist, bend, kneel, climb and use hand tools. This position will begin in mid May and end September 1st.

Wrangler / Guide - Available, accepting applications now.

Wranglers are responsible for maintaining the health and condition of the horses and other livestock and for maintaining the safe, functional and clean condition of the barn facilities and outdoor recreation equipment/facilities. Guide/Wranglers lead trail rides AND provide instruction for riders of all riding abilities and ages. In ADDITION, Wrangler staff will also be guiding other ranch activities to include sporting clays, helping the Kids’ Program, mountain bike tours, challenge course & high ropes course, fishing, hiking, and other guest activities. This position will begin in mid May and end either September or  October.

Kids Program Counselor - Available, accepting applications now.

Kids’ Program Counselors will lead trail rides AND provide instruction for young riders of all riding abilities from age 3 – 11 years old. In ADDITION, Kids’ Counselors will also be guiding other ranch activities to include bike tours, challenge course & high ropes course, fishing, hiking, and other Kids’ Program activities. You’ll have the opportunity during your summer to operate ranch equipment, vet and care for the herd, lead rides, help out with general ranch work, maintain facilities and grounds, and take part in other guided activities at the ranch. This position is available from May to September.

Housekeeper/Server - Available, accepting applications now.

Housekeepers are responsible for the care of our guests’ accommodations and meals. Housekeeping responsibilities include cleaning of guest cabins and common areas, laundry services, serving any number of different meal formats, stocking, or as needed by the kitchen or housekeeping supervisors. This position is available from May to September or October.

Seasonal Chef - Available, accepting applications 3/1/12

The chef will be responsible for the following tasks: helping to plan meals for guests and staff; helping to prep all foods for meals, maintaining proper food levels, proper storage of food stock, maintaining a clean kitchen, maintaining and following the to do list, and filling-in as needed.

Generally, each member of the kitchen team will regularly participate in preparing Breakfast to-order, and Lunch and Dinnerbuffet style for up to 80 people daily.  The Kitchen team prepares quality pack meals for All-Day guided activities, and produces fresh baked breads, pastries, cookies and desserts as a part of the daily routine.  Additionally, every team member must be willing and able to maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen and food storage areas.  Every chef will wash food preparation dishes, as well as guest and staff dishes. This position is available from May to September or October.

Kitchen Assistant – Available, accepting applications 3/1/12

Kitchen Assistants are responsible for maintaining the sanitary condition of the kitchen and food storage areas as well as the cleanliness of the guest areas of the main lodge, assisting with light food prep, and bartending.  Job includes dish washing, cleaning the dining room after meals and setting the tables, sweeping and mopping the kitchen and the common areas of the lodge, food prep, bar tending on occassion, helping servers serve beverages and bus tables. This position is available from May to September or October.

Bartender/Evening Entertainment Coordinator – Available, accepting applications 3/1/12

The bartender is responsible for coordinating evening entertainment on the ranch and maintaining beverage services during the evening. This position requires someone who is outgoing, a self starter, and able to take care of their duties with little supervision. Must be willing to help in other departments and do other tasks required around the lodge and kitchen. Must be 21 years of age and be capable of passing the Idaho Food Handlers class. This position is available from May to October.
